Supervision Philosophy
Supervision is a collaborative, creative, and relational process. I view it as a developmental journey where supervisees build clinical confidence, ethical awareness, and a deeper understanding of their therapeutic voice.
My approach is:
-
Trauma-informed
-
Culturally responsive
-
Creatively integrative, blending Expressive Arts with Cognitive, Humanistic, Systems, Polyvagal, and Somatic frameworks.
Supervision provides a space to explore vulnerability, process cases, integrate theory with practice, and develop reflective insight.
Use of Expressive Arts in Supervision
Expressive Arts are a core lens in my supervision practice—not limited to artmaking but inclusive of movement, music, writing, and mindfulness. Using the MSSS Model (Malchiodi, 2021):
-
Movement: bilateral movement, yoga, play, cultural expression
-
Sound: drumming, humming, instrument use
-
Storytelling: metaphor, creative writing, role play
-
Silence: meditation, witnessing, mindfulness practices
These methods deepen insight, regulate the nervous system, and promote embodied learning.
Supervision is offered in person, virtually or in hybrid format, and often includes expressive options such as journaling, metaphor, visual processing, or movement.
